How to Arrive Here

Please note that the following directions are given on the condition that consent has been reached by both parties for meeting. Please do not arrive here without making prior arrangements.

  • By Train
The nearest train stations to where the farm is located are Fornos de Algodres and Celorico da Beira. Both are about 10-15min drive from my place. Comboios de Portugal have a line from Lisbon to Guarda direct (Fornos de Algodres and Celorico da Beira are only a few stops before Guarda). Otherwise from Porto you will likely have to change trains at some point. From either of those stations you can either find a cab waiting outside or you can arrange for me to pick you up if I’m available (see my contact details below). I’ve provided some taxi numbers below in case they might be needed. It might be best to note them down in case you may need them.
  • By Bus
For buses you need to check the Rede Expressos web site. You need to see if you can get to either Fornos de Algodres or Celorico da Beira. From either of those stations you can either find a cab waiting outside or you can arrange for me to pick you up if I’m available (see my contact details below). I’ve provided some taxi numbers below in case they might be needed. It might be best to note them down in case you may need them.
  • By Car / Taxi
Firstly you need to arrive at the ‘Capela Arcanjo de São Gabriel’ (Chapel of the Arch Angel St Gabriel). It is located on a small road that joins the two villages of Vila Ruiva (Concelho of Fornos de Algodres) and Carrapichana (Concelho of Celorico da Beira).  The dirt road that starts behind the chapel is in fair condition and should be accessible by most vehicles. If you feel your car is delicate or you don’t feel confident in your driving then it might be best for you to park at the chapel and then walk in on the dirt track that starts just behind the chapel. From the chapel, following the dirt track, it’s 600 m to the farm. Once you’ve come along about 450 m you’ll pass a stone barn ruin on your left (stick to the left and don’t veer off to the right). After this ruin you’ll go about another 100 m or so before the track curves left and down the hill. As you descend, if you look to the right and you will see some buildings. You will then come up to a small crossing where you can turn left into a parking area or right onto the track that will take you in the direction of the houses, please don’t drive straight beyond this point or you may never get out!! If you look down to the right, towards the houses you may see a white yin/yang symbol on the side of one of the houses. This is where we live 🙂

My mobile contact number is +351 960.163.616

Taxi – If you need a lift from the station then you can call any of the following guys for your corresponding area where you’ll be. Unfortunately most of them don’t speak great English so if you need assistance with organising then just call my number above and ask.
